When Mary’s 4 month old son cries, she rushes to him immediately and does everything possible to console him. Is this a good idea? Please explain.

I say yes, babies need to be held or they will actully die there was an experiment on it in the early 1900's) and while it is not healthy to continue coddling your child after infancy because that will make them a spoiled brat, it will only make the bond between mother and child stronger to coddle your child as a baby. And if your worried this will make the baby cry even more to get more attention later on... that will happen but will eventually fall out of habit as the baby grows older.
