Answer:

3.6

Explanation:

you can use a proportion for this. Since 6 people are painting several offices in 5 days you would put 6 over 5. now we have three numbers and we need to find how many people can complete the same job in three days. so we would put 3 across from 5 because there both the same label (day). we don't know the fourth number so put a x or variable any letter. we need to find x. after you set up your proportion you would then cross multiply . 6 times 3 is 18 and 5 times x is 5x. now we divide. 5 divided by 5x is just x or 1x. so you have x alone now. 18 divided by 5 is 3.6 so x is 3.6 which is the answer .

Answer:

4 people

Explanation:

When
x_1 people complete a piece of work in
n_1 days and the same work is completed by
x_2 people in
n_2 days,

Then,

x_1* n_1=x_2* n_2

Here,

x_1=6,n_1=5, n_2 = 3

By substituting the values,

6* 5=3x_2

\implies x_(2)=(30)/(3) = 10

Thus, the additional number of people = 10 - 6 = 4
