Answer:

Length and width of another rectangular lot that has the same perimeter but a smaller area is found out

Length = 95 feet

Width = 45 feet

Explanation:

A rectangular lot is 50 yards wide and 90 yards long.

Perimeter = 2 x (length + breadth) = 2 x ( 90 + 50) = 280 feet

Area = length x breadth = 90 x 50 = 4500 ft²

Here we need to find length and width of another rectangular lot that has the same perimeter but a smaller area.

So perimeter of new rectangle = 280 feet

2 x (length + breadth) = 280

length + breadth = 140

Assume length = 95 feet , so width = 140 - 95 = 45 feet

Area = 95 x 45 =4275 ft²

Here area is less than 4500 ft².

Length and width of another rectangular lot that has the same perimeter but a smaller area is found out

Length = 95 feet

Width = 45 feet
