Read this excerpt from Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I started inventing things, and then I couldn’t stop, like beavers, which I know about. People think they cut down trees so they can build dams, but in reality it’s because their teeth never stop growing, and if they didn’t constantly file them down by cutting through all of those trees, their teeth would start to grow into their own faces, which would kill them. That’s how my brain was. Which line best reflects the ambiguity of this excerpt?

Answer:

"I started inventing things, and then I could not stop, like beavers".

Step-by-step explanation:

Ambiguity is a figure of language also called amphibology. We can summarize the concept of ambiguity as a double meaning in the same sentence or sentence. This is when we have words or structures that can be interpreted in two different ways, causing confusion in speech.

In the excerpt shown in the question, the ambiguity is in the phrase "I started inventing things and then couldn't stop, like beavers." The author of the excerpt shows that people think that beavers cut down trees to build dams, when in fact beavers cut down trees in order not to die. Similar to beavers, the author states that he has started inventing things and although people think his inventions are for whatever reason, the author cannot stop inventing things so that his thoughts do not invade him and kill him and to express it the author used ambiguity in this sentence.
