Yoko received a $90 gift card for a coffee store . She use it in buying some coffee that cost $7.49 per pound. After buying the coffee, she had $$67.53 left on her card. How my pounds of coffee did she buy?

Let

x ---->amount of pounds of coffee she bought

we know that

The left over money plus the amount spent on coffee must be equal to the original amount of the gift card

The amount spent on coffee is equal to multiply the number of pounds by the cost of coffee per pound

so


67.53+7.49x=90

Solve for x


7.49x=90-67.53


7.49x=22.47


x=22.47/7.49


x=3\ lb
