The French, under the rule of the Convention in 1794 legislated to free all the slaves in the French overseas possessions. This, however, turned out to be short-term measure: ten years later, Napoleon reintroduced slavery. Plantation owners understood their freedom as including the right to enslave African Negroes in pursuit of their economic interests. Slavery was finally abolished in French colonies in 1848.

Hope it helps you. You know what to do!

Answer:

The Spanish generally treated Native American people cruelly, using them as slave labor. The French treated the Native Americans better, trading with them and working with them in more equal relationships.

The Spanish, on the other hand, sought riches and conversions more forcibly and on a larger scale than the French; this would lead to much mistreatment of native peoples.
