3/4 - 1/6 = 14/24
And if we simplify that, it equals 7/12.
So John ate 7/12 more than Sandy.

Answer: John ate
(7)/(12) more of the candy bar than Sandy.

Explanation:

For this exercise you need to subtract fractions.

Given the following fractions:

(1)/(6) and
(3)/(4)

You can notice that they have different denominators. So, in orde to subtract them, you need to find the Least Common Denominator (LCD) between them:

- Descompose the denominators into their prime factors:

6=2*3\\\\4=2*2=2^2

- Mulitply the commons and non commons with the highest exponents:

LCD=2^2*3=12

To make the subtraction, you can follow these steps:

1. Write 12 (the LCD) as the new denominator.

2. Divide each original denominator by the LCD found.

3. Multiply each quotient obtained by the original numerator of the corresponding fraction.

4. Add the products.

5. Reduce the fraction if it can be reduced.

Then:

((3)(3)-(2)(1))/(12)=(7)/(12)

Therefore, John ate
(7)/(12) more of the candy bar than Sandy.
