3/2x - 4 = 16 you start of trying to get x by itself, to do that you must add 4 to both sides to get rid of the 4 so you get

3/2x = 20 now cross multiply


(3)/(2)  = (20)/(1)  \\\\20 * 2x = 40x and 3 *1 = 3\\\\40x = 3 now divide both sides by 40\\\\x = (3)/(40)
