According to the writer history ‘should be studied because it is important to individual, society for knowing the past’. There are many ways to discuss the actual work of the subject - as there are many different historical geniuses and many different avenues for historical meaning. History is specifically used in two meanings.

One is the events of ancient or past times and second is the perception about those events. The people of Greece used the word "Histari" (history) for history. "Histari" literally meant "weave". It is estimated that an attempt was made to weave known events in an orderly manner to present a picture that is meaningful and well-documented.

Answer:

History is important to both society and individuals.

Step-by-step explanation:

A key word used by the author to give us the answer is "essential". This tells us that what follows is very important. So, in the text, the author states that the main reason why history should be studies is because it is of great importance to both individuals and society. The other sentences in the text explain why history is so important to individuals and society, therefore they are supporting sentences and not the main reason.
