Answer:

The naswer to your question is below

Explanation:

Data

Scale 1 inch: 80 miles

5 inches between to cities

a) It means that for each inch, he must travel 80 miles.

b)

1 inch ---------------------- 80 miles

5 inches ------------------ x

x = 5(80) / 1 = 400 miles

Then, he needs to drive 400 miles from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

this means that one inch on the map is equal to 80 miles in real life. in order to find the actual distance between la and san fran we need to multiply 80×5 because one inch is 80 miles and there are 5 inches. our answer is 400 miles. so this means that in the real world la is 400 miles away from san fran. hope this helps bb :)
