Tragedy: Tragedies proposed the ideas that fortune / destiny were decided by the gods. Medieval people had the same mindset. For example, in the Black (Bubonic) Plague, they believed those who got the plague were "cursed" by God, rather than random fortune

Answer:

Greek tragedies were very popular with medieval readers.

Step-by-step explanation:

First to emerge in Europe, Greek literature laid the foundations of almost every literary genre in the course of its evolution. Assimilated by the Romans, the great ancient Greek writers, together with the Latin classics, came to be considered universal models, and from them certainly comes the whole western literary tradition.

Almost all literary genres peaked at some time in Europe, but it was in the Middle Ages that Greek tragedies became most popular with readers. Tragedies were theatrical texts that presented tragic and dramatic stories derived from human passions which would involve noble and heroic characters: gods, demigods, and mythological heroes. They all had a common characteristic: permanent tension and the unfortunate and tragic end that left the reader involved and excited.
