Answer: 10

Explanation:

We know that the degree of freedom for two sample with sample sizes
n_1 and
n_2 is given by:-

df=n_1+n_2-2

If sample sizes are same , then
df=n+n-2=2n-2 (1)

Given : An independent-measures study comparing two treatment conditions produces a t statistic with df = 18.

Then, from (1) , we have

2n-2=18\\\\\Rightarrow\ 2n=20\\\\\Rightarrow\ n=10

Hence, the number of participants were in each of the samples =10
