In at least one hundred and fifty words, compare the experience of Conrad Weiser as described in Franklin's Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America to that of Mary Rowlandson upon the arrival of John Hoar in The Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson.

Answer:

When the experience of Conrad Weiser as described in Benjamin Franklin's “Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America” is compared to that of Mary Rowlandson’s upon the arrival of John Hoar in “The Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson,” it comes into light that Franklin has made an attempt to increase tolerance towards the Native Americans.

Step-by-step explanation:

Franklin shows acceptance of the beliefs of the Native Americans to a certain extent whereas, Rowlandson’s view is negative towards them in the beginning. But later her journey as a captive from civilization to the wilderness helped her view things from a different perspective. The similarities were clear to her. Some Natives wore the clothes of the colonists’ and prayed as they claimed to have converted to Christianity. Rowlandson also, ate and enjoyed the Indian food and often behaved like them which caused savagery and civilization to be indistinct.
