Umayyad dynasty was the first Muslim dynasty established in Damascus. Umayyad clan was the descendant of the prophet Mohammed. Umayyad spread Muslim faith and established the Arab empire. They never tried to impose Islam on the people who followed other faiths.

Umayyad was deposed by the Abbasid dynasty. Arabic was the new language discovered during their period and it spread all across the Arab empire. New Arabic coinage also marked their achievement.

Umayyad Empire was so vast that it expanded up to Spain, Persia, Egypt and Syria.
