What is 3--4? I do know it's equal to 3+4 but I always wonder what is this considered to be as it's more easier to use 3+4 then why 3--4 is still be used in maths since we don't use it in real life and plz give me examples for its uses​

Usually this happens as a result of algebraic manipulation during the process of solving an algebraic equation where if you move one term from one side of the equation to another, it could end up with this result.

Another occasion where this can occur is if you are asked to calculate the relative difference in value between two properties (eg. temperature). For example:

If for a given winter day, the daytime maximum temperature is 3 degrees. At night the temperature dropped to -4 degrees. Find the relative range in temperature for that day:

In this case , start temperature = 3 deg, final temperature = -4 degrees

difference in temp = 3 - (-4) = 3+4 = 7 degree range in temp
