A baby goes to sleep at 8 p.m., wakes up after two hours, stays awake for 15 minutes, and then goes back to sleep. If the baby repeats this sleep pattern until she is awakened at 6 a.m., what percent of the time from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. was the baby asleep?

Answer:

If it slept at 8pm then at 10 it woke up 10:15 it slept.

If it slept at 8pm then at 10 it woke up 10:15 it slept. So, woke up at 12:15, slept at 12:30pm. woke up at 2:30 and slept at 2:45am, woke up at 4:45, slept at 5am. awakened at 6.

2+2+2+2+1

So it got 9 hours of sleep out of 10

So it got 9 hours of sleep out of 10Converting to Percentage:

So it got 9 hours of sleep out of 10Converting to Percentage: 9/10 can be written as 90%.

So it got 9 hours of sleep out of 10Converting to Percentage: 9/10 can be written as 90%. Thus, The baby slept 90% of the time.
