Answer: -5<x<10

Explanation:

1) Look at the problem and think about how to solve it.

2) The -1 can be added to the -6 and 9 because what you do to one side you have to do it to the other.

3) You would want to move the -1 to both sides but have to get rid of the -

4) -6+1 is -5 and 9+1 is 10

5) therefore -5<x<10 is the answer

-6 < x-1 < 9

Add 1 to all parts

−6+1<x−1+1<9+1

= -5 < x < 10
