I just need to find out the last question that is in red. I don't know how to find the year when the median house values will be equal. I'm really confused about how to find it

Answer:

1924.3

Explanation:

Ok

You need to write an expression for the change in value

the change is linear, so you will get a line equation y = mx + b

y-axys : value

x-axys : years

New Hampshire:

Slope =
(133300-37600)/(2000-1950) = 1914

the y-intercept will be 37600 because you can assume that 1950 = 0, and 2000 = 50

y = 1914*x + 37600

Massachussets:

Slope =
(185700-55400)/(2000-1950) = 2606

Same as above, the y-intercept is 55400

y = 2606*x + 55400

Now you need to equal the value for both and find the year "x"

1914x + 37600 = 2606x + 55400

- 692x = 17800

x = -25.7

Since i considered x = 0 to be 1950; the actual year is 1950 - 25.7 = 1924.3
