A fair coin is tossed and a fair six sided die is tossed. What is the probability that the coin shows heads and the die shows a multiple of three?

Answer:

1/6 or 0.167

Explanation:

The probability of the coin shows head is 1/2 or 0.5

The probability of the dice shows a multiple of three is 2/6 or 0.333 (It can show 3 or 6 out of 6 possibilities then 2/6)

When you add "AND" means you want both probabilities to occur so you have to multiply them.

The probability that the coin shows heads "AND" the dices shows a multiple of three :

Probability = 0.5 * 0.333 = 0.167
