Answer:

720 seconds

Explanation:

First, we use a proportion to find the time in hours it takes to fly 4 miles.

10 miles is to 1/2 hr as 4 miles is to t hours.

(10 miles)/(1/2 hr) = (4 miles)/t

10t = (1/2)4

10t = 2

t = 2/10 = 1/5

It takes 1/5 hour to fly 4 miles.

Now we convert 1/5 hour into seconds.

1/5 hour * (60 minutes)/(1 hour) * (60 seconds)/(1 minute) = 720 seconds

10 miles in 1/2 an hour.

If it's any easier in 1 hour he flies 20 miles.

We have to convert the hour into seconds;

60 times 60=3600

In 3600 seconds the parrot flies 20 miles

20/4= 5

3600/5= 720!

720 is your answer
