Answer:

You will need 8 cups of yellow paint

Explanation:

The ratio between the cup of yellow paint to the cup of blue paint to

make a certain shade of green is 2/3 : 3/4

That means to make a certain the shade of green you must mix 2/3 cup

of yellow paint and 3/4 cup of blue paint

We need to know how many cups of yellow paint and blue paint will

need to make 17 cups of a green paint

∵ yellow paint : blue paint : green paint

2/3 : 3/4 : 2/3 + 3/4

(2)/(3)+(3)/(4)=(2*4+3*3)/(3*4)=(8+9)/(12)=(17)/(12)

∴ The ratio between the three colors is

(2)/(3):(3)/(4):(17)/(12)

∵ The number of green cups is 17

(2)/(3):(3)/(4):(17)/(12) = yellow : blue : 17

By using cross multiplication between yellow paint and green paint

(2)/(3)*17=(17)/(12) * yellow cups

Divide both sides by
(17)/(12)

∴ yellow cups =
((2*17)/(3))/((17)/(12))=8

You will need 8 cups of yellow paint
