When two lines intersect each other at some point then the pair of opposite angle formed by these lines are called vertical angles. vertically opposite angles are equal and congruent.

As shown in Figure 1 below :

A line segment AD intersects line segment BE at point F.

∴ The pair of vertical angles are:

m∠AFB = m∠EFD or

m∠AFE = m∠BFD

In other words, m∠AFE = m∠BFC + m∠CFD (∵∠BFD = ∠BFC + ∠CFD)

Therefore option (1) is the correct answer which is m∠AFE = m∠BFD.
