At the potluck, there were 6 pecan pies, 7 lemon pies, 13 cherry pies, and 8 apple pies. Find the ratio of apple pies to the total number of pies. Write each ratio in simplest form. Then explain its meaning

Answer:

I think that the answer would be 4:17.

Explanation:

This answer is due to the fact that by adding the number of all of the pies together, you get 34. The number of apple pies as stated in the problem then is 8, so that would logically make the original ratio 8:34 if I'm doing this correctly. Then, writing it in simplest form would make the ratio 4:17, and you get that new simplest ratio by dividing both 8 and 34 by 2, separately. You cannot simplify the new ratio of 4:17 anymore because 4 and 17 don't both divide evenly by a same number higher than 1. I hope I did this correctly and that I helped you to understand this better. :) Have a great day!
