A very hungry young woman runs from her house to the store at an average speed of 3 m/s. she then walks back home at an average speed of 1 m/s. if the entire round trip take 10 minutes. How far is it from the woman's house to the store?

Answer: 450 metres

Explanation:

First convert the 10 minutes to seconds, which is 10*60 = 600 seconds

Then, we know she is 3 times faster going to the store than coming back. We can name the time as "t".

Therefore: 3*t + t = 600

4*t = 600

t = 600/4

t = 150 seconds

Knowing the time it took her to go to the store for the first trip, we can calculate the distance using the speed formula:

Speed = distance / time

So we can re-arrange the formula to find the distance:

Distance = Speed* Time

Therefore,

Distance = (3 m/s)*(150 s)

Distance = 450 m

Considering that the distance is the same for both trips.
