Here it is:

2(x + 3) = 3x + 1

I'm now going to insert 5 into the spaces with x.

2(5 + 3) = 3 x 5 + 1

Now, I'm just going to go through the equation starting with the (5 + 3). 5 + 3 = 8. So the equation now looks like this:

2 x 8 = 3 x 5 + 1

Next, I'm going to take the 2 x 8 and answer it. 2 x 8 = 16. So the equation is now this:

16 = 3 x 5 + 1

Now take the 3 x 5. That equals 15. So you are left with this:

16 = 15 + 1

Finish it up with answering the 15 + 1, which is 16. So now, you have your answer:

16 = 16

Hope I helped you! :D
