They prayed, and gave offerings and sacrifices to appease their gods. The code of Hammurabi also reflects how important religion was to Mesopotamians. To begin with, the stone that the laws are carved into has a large image inscribed into it at the top, in which a god is handing the code of law to Hammurabi.
