Answers:

k-3/4= 10

move -3/4 to the other side

sign changes from -3/4 to +3/4

k-3/4+3/4= 10+3/4

k= 10+3/4

find the common denominator for 10. Pretend that 10 has a denominator which is 1.

The common denominator is 4. Mutiply by 4 for 10/1

10(4)= 40

1(4)= 4

k= 40/4+ 3/4

k= 43/4 and k= 10 3/4

9+t/12=3

mutiply both sides by 12

12(9)= 108

t/12*12- cross out 12 and 12, divide by 12 and then becomes t

3(12)=36

108+t=36

move 108 to the other side

108-108+t= 36-108

t= -72
