Answer:

Acid rain is caused by a chemical reaction that begins when compounds like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air. These substances can rise very high into the atmosphere, where they mix and react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to form more acidic pollutants, known as acid rain.

Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide which is dropped by the gush of the airstream mixes with water causing acid rain. These gases are emitted largely from the smoke of factories and vehicles.

When Acid Rain percolates into the ground it dissolves the minerals and nutrients under the soil. It also deposits aluminium layer which makes the plants and trees difficult to thrive.

Acid rain can be protected by not burning any fossil fuels like coal and petroleum products and resort to renewable sources as solar and wind energy.
