Cut the figure into parts that we know how to calculate the areas of.

I can see a way to cut the shape into 2 parts: a rectangle and a half circle.

The area of a rectangle=length times width

The area of a half circle=1/2*area of circle=1/2*pi*radius^2

so if we say that the length is 10ft and the width is 8ft, then

area of rectangle=10ft*8ft=80
ft^2

for the circle, we need to find the radius which is half the diameter

the diameter is the distance from one end of the circle to the other.

this would be 8ft

so the radius is 8/2=4ft

if we use 3.14 for pi then

so the area of the half circle is
(1)/(2)* 3.14* 4^2=25.12ft^2

The total area is the sum of these two areas.

Therefore, theh total area is 80ft²+25.12ft²=105.12ft²

the total area is 105.12ft²
