Mrs. Zhang’s bee farm has a population that is about 1 tenth as large as Mrs. Acquino’s bee farm. If Mrs. Zhang’s bee population is about 48,000, about how many bees does Mrs. Acquino have?

Answer:

480,000 bees

Explanation:

The reason is if Mr. Zhang's 48,000 bees is 1/10 of Mr. Acquino's farm, then 10 of Mr. Zhang's farms would be Mr. Acquino's farm. Then, do 10*48,000 which equals 480,000. Hope this helps :)

Mrs. Zhang's is 1/10 the size of Mrs. Acquino's.

Since you know Mrs Zhang's, divide the amount she has by the fraction of hers.

48,000 / 1/10

When you divide by a fraction, reverse the fraction and multiply:

48,000 x 10/1 =

48000 x 10 = 480,000 bees.
