A yard has a perimeter of 232ft. If 12x the length of the yard is 17x the width, what are the dimensions?​

Explanation:

First we aproximate the perimeter of the yar to the perimeter of a rectangle. ⇒ Perimeter = 2 length + 2 width. ⇒ perimeter =2(17x) + 2(12x)

⇒ 232 ft = 34 x + 24 x ⇒ 232 ft = 58 x ⇒ 232 ft/58 = x⇒ x= 4.

Finally if length = 12x ⇒ length = 48 ft. And width= 17x ⇒ width = 68ft.
