simplifying bracket first


3m - 7m - 12 = 2m - 6


- 4m - 12 = 2m - 6

grouping like terms


- 4m - 2m = - 6 + 12


- 6m = 6

dividing through by -6


( - 6m)/( - 6) = (6)/( - 6)


m = - 1
