A cookie recipe calls for 1 2/3 of sugar if you plan on changing the recipe to make it 2 1/2 times as much how many cups of sugar will you need

Explanation:

we know that

The recipe calls for 1 2/3 of sugar

To make 2 1/2 times the recipe

Multiply 2 1/2 by 1 2/3

Convert mixed numbers to an improper fraction


1(2)/(3)=(1*3+2)/(3)=(5)/(3)\ cups


2(1)/(2)=(2*2+1)/(2)=(5)/(2)

so


(5)/(2)((5)/(3))=(25)/(6)\ cups

Convert to mixed number


(25)/(6)=(24)/(6)+(1)/(6)=4(1)/(6)\ cups
