let the width be x

W=x

L=(2x-6)

Step two:

we know that perimeter of a rectangle is given as

P=2W+2L

60=2x+2(2x-6)

60=2x+4x-12

60=6x-12

collect like terms

6x= 60+12

6x=72

divide both sides by 6

x=72/6

x=12

Width is 12m

from L=(2x-6)

L=2*12-6

L=24-6

L=18m
