A recipe calls for 1/2 cup sugar, 2/3 cup flour, and 2 1/4 cups of oatmeal. What is the combined measurement of these ingredients?

Explanation:

So we have here 1/2, 2/3 and 2 1/4. So let's ignore the 2 from 2 1/4. so we add them all up (1/2 + 2/3 + 1/4) but before we add them up we have to find the common denominator. So the common denominator for 2, 3 and 4 is 12. so the question will be 6/12 + 8/12 + 3/12. Add this up and it will be 17/12 = 1 5/12. Now let's get that 2 back here and add 2 to 1 5/12 (2 + 1 5/12) = 3 5/12
