Answer:

x = (49)/(6)

Explanation:

given

(3x)/(4) - (7)/(2) = (21)/(8)

find the L.C.M

L.C.M for 2,4 and 8=8

multiply through by the L.C.M

thus

8 * (3x)/(4) - 8 * (7)/(2) = 8 * (21)/(8)

then cancel out the ones which are divisible to get

2(3x) - 4(7) = 21

6x - 28 = 21

making x the subject

6x = 21 + 28

6x = 49

dividing through by 6 to get x

(6x)/(6) = (49)/(6)

x = (49)/(6)
