The formula for secant lines is the outside x the overall length is equal to the outside times the overall length of the second line.

A) 5*(x+5) = 6*10

SImplify:

5x +25 = 60

Subtract 25 from both sides:

5x = 35

Divide both sides by 5:

x = 35/5

x = 7

B) 3*8 = 4*(x+4)

Simplify:

24 = 4x +16

Subtract 16 from both sides:

4x = 8

Divide both sides by 4:

x = 8/4

X = 2
