a = -5

Explanation:

(5 - 3)/(5 - a)

2/(5 - a)

perpendicular of 2/(5 - a) = -(5 - a)/2

(a - 0)/(1 - 0) = -(5 - a)/2

a/1 = -(5 - a)/2

2a = -5 + a

a = -5
