Individuals have different absolute thresholds for visual and aural stimuli. This fact supports the statement that subliminal advertising would need to be tailored to the individual in order to be effective.True / False.

Answer:

Th answer is: True

Step-by-step explanation:

Subliminal advertising is designed to engage consumers subconsciously by using stimuli (words or images) that they don't consciously detect. In most countries it is illegal to try to do this, but in the US it´s sort of a gray area still, it is not expressly prohibited. Even though it might not be illegal, it clearly is not ethical. When it is carried out appropriately some scientists believe it does work and very effectively.

The problem lies on the fact that not everyone has the same absolute threshold for stimuli. The absolute threshold is defined as the smallest level of stimuli that a person is able to detect 50 percent of the time. For example, the absolute threshold for vision refers to the smallest level of light that someone can detect. Humans are able to detect a stimuli between the range of 54 and 148 photons, so it´s not a one size fits all situation.
