Explanation:

When doing these kinds of problems you want to do dributive property which means you multiply whatever number is outside of the (), which is 5, and multiply that by b and 1.

when numbers are outside the () and right next to them without anything like +,-, or a division sign, it means to multiply.

In order to find the answer to this question you will have to simplify using the distributive property.


5(b-1)

Applying the distributive property:


5b+5*-1


5*-1=-5


5b-5

Therefore the answer is "5b-5."
