Lisa and Melissa were comparing grades on their chemistry exam. Lisa was disappointed when she first saw that she had received a grade of 76 percent, but when she saw that Melissa (the class valedictorian in high school) had earned a grade of 78 percent, she felt much better about her grade. What is most likely to be a reason that Lisa changed her perspective?

Answer:Melissa is said to be a valedictorian which means she is a high ranking students in their school; she is leading academically in the school. She is the A student .

If Melissa got 78% and Lisa got 76% looking at the fact that she is only 2% behind the school valedictorian that means she did great me .

That how students usually validate themselves by comparing themselves to those students who are known to be doing real well in school , they use them as the gauge to see if they did well or not .
