Firstly, try simplfying the equation simply multiply the whole brackets with 2

-X - (18 - 16x) = 12

You can either multiply the whole equation by -1 or simplfy it, im gonna do the second option here.

-X - 18 + 16x = 12

Now, lets add 18 to both sides.

-X - 18 + 16X + 18 = 12 + 18

-X + 16X = 30

Getting simple here, Subtract an X from the 16X.

15X = 30

Divide the whole equation by 15.

X = 2

Always check if the answer is right or not.

-(2)-2[9-8(2)]

-2-(18-32)

-2-(-14)

-2+14

12 = 12

And that's how it's solved.
