Answer:

American political culture contains a number of core ideas and values. Not all Americans share the views, of course but the vast majority subscribe to these general ideals including liberty, equality, democracy, individualism, unity, and diversity.

As a matter of fact, it is imperative to realize that the American political culture describes the relationship between the people of the United States and the government of the United States of America. This is what the people of the United States value most about their government, and what they expect that government to provide for them.

In order to better understand American political culture, let us examine a few of its main values:

  • Liberty
  • Equality
  • Democracy
  • Individualism

Liberty

In the U.S., we have what is known as a limited government, which means that the power of our government is restricted by the Constitution. Our liberty is somewhat restrained by laws and rules to protect other people's rights and safety. Our Bill of Rights guarantees that certain civil liberties cannot be violated.

Equality

It is especially imperative that everyone obeys our laws, regardless of race, gender, or religion. Equality means that everyone has the same opportunity to succeed and compete. To make American citizens more equal, the 13th Amendment abolished slavery and the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote.

Democracy

A democracy is a form of government in which people exercise power through elected representatives, It is not exactly a 'majority rule' or 'winner take all' system. If the government officials fail to exercise the power the people want, they can impeach them or not re-elect them.

Individualism

Generally, individualism refers to the concept that the individual's rights are valued over those of the government. This principle is indicative of the independent spirit and self-reliance that makes many Americans so unique.

Throughout the Bill of Rights, we are provided with a number of protections, such as the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, as well as free assembly. These protections are all guaranteed by our First Amendment.

Hope this helps :)
