I would appreciate a step by step explanation because I can't solve it.

35/45 + x/18 = 8/9

Answer:

x=2

Explanation:

1- Make sure variables are on one side and numbers on the other

Subtract both sides by 35/45

x/18 = 8/9 - 35/45

2- Find the LCM and subtract the right side

LCM is 45 (9x5 is 45, and 45 x 1 is 45)

8/9 x 5/5 = 40/45

40/45 - 35/45 = 5/45 = 1/9

x/18 = 1/9

Multiply both sides by 18 to get x alone

x = 1/9 x 18 = 18/9 = 2
