A grocery store sells twelve water bottles for $13.80. A convenience store sells 10 water bottles for $11.80. Which store has the better or more reasonable buy??

Answer: The grocery store has the better buy because the price per bottle is cheaper.

Explanation:

To find out the price per bottle, divide the total cost by the number of water bottles.

Grocery Store: Price per bottle=$13.80÷12

=$1.15

Convenience Store: Price per bottle=$11.80÷10

=$1.18

The grocery store has a more reasonable buy because it is $1.15 per bottle where as at the convenience store is $1.18 per bottle. So at the grocery store you save ¢3 per bottle.
