You are treating the amputation of three fingers on a 40-year-old male. The fingers were torn off while he was cleaning his snow blower. You have stopped the bleeding. What should you do with the amputated fingers?

Answer:

Once the patient is settled done and the bleeding has stopped. Simply: (1) take the finger, (2) wrap it in a cloth, (3) put it in a plastic packet, (4) place ice pack over it, (5) seek professional medical care from a hospital.

Step-by-step explanation:

(1) Make sure you're wearing gloves when coming into contact with the blood of the person and do not wash the fingers.

(2)Make sure the cloth is clean and not filthy or contaminated.

(3)The plastic bag must be sterile in order to reduce future infection.

(4) Do not place the ice directly onto the fingers for this will cause the fingers to burn thus making the finger unable to be sewn back. This is chilling and not freezing the finger.

(5)Go to a hospital as soon as possible so the doctor can sew back the fingers or smooth out amputation.
