Explanation:The thymus gland does not function throughout all our life ,it shrinks at some point as we grow older but it plays a huge role in protecting the body against autoimmunity, which results when immune system is weak .
For this reason it has a crucial role in our lymphatic system and endocrine .
It is largest when we are children but it shrinks as we move from puberty to being elders since it reaches a point when it has produced all the T-cells (white blood cells which fifths infections ) that we need .
Since it protect us through these white blood cells that fight against infection and viruses the child system may be weak and vulnerable that they may be weak to fight infections or any viruses
This may mean the the mother will have to keep an eye on the child .
