Add the fractions first, because both fractions have the same denominator ( bottom number) just add the numerators (top numbers) together and put it on top of the denominator:

1/3 + 1/3 = (1+1)/3 = 2/3

Now add the whole numbers:

2 + 3 = 5

The answer is 5 2/3
