Answer:

1) y = -4 + 3x

2) y = (5/2) - (x/2)

Explanation:

1) 3x - y = 4

-y = 4 - 3x

-1 * -y = -1 * 4 - 3x * -1 ( multiply each term by -1)

y = -4 + 3x

2) x + 2y = 5

2y = 5 - x

y = (5-x)/2

y = (5/2) - (x/2)
