Answer:

These animals are adapted to live in cold temperatures of Taiga region.

Moose are the largest member of the deer species and are present in the Taiga region. During summer they can eat grass and leaves but when winter comes in these regions, heavy snowfall occurs which form a thick layer of snow all over the ground which makes the grass unavailable. Also due to heavy snowfall leaves of trees and plants are not so much abundant or reaches too high up in trees. As in these regions, the dominant species of trees are pine trees during such times the only available food item becomes the pine cones or pine needles which falls from trees in ground. So, to survive such harsh conditions they depend on pine needles for food. They have special molars and gut modifications as adaptation to eat and digest these hard cones which makes them a successful species in Taiga region.
